Desde un primer momento las diferencias entre ambos primos se hace notar y así lo dice nuestra querida Jane en su libro.</span></b></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><b><span lang="ES-TRAD"> </span></b></span><span style="font-size: small;"><b><span lang="ES-TRAD">El coronel Fitzwilliam iba adelante; tendría unos treinta años, no era guapo, pero en su trato y su persona se distinguía al caballero. Aca les dejo un fragmento de Orgullo y prejuicio que da que pensar.Siempre me han dicho que vasta tan solo unas palabras para saber que piensa una persona, bueno en esta escena en particular podremos ver la postura de Charlotte con respecto al amor y al matrimonio. <br />

Esconde su verdadero ser, que lamentablemente solo conoce Darcy y que no posee tan buen reputación como Wickham, así que no puede delatarlo porque estaría manchando el buen nombre de su familia.<br />

Que pudo haber salvado a Lizzy de no caer en las garras de este hombre, si ella también estaba encantada por este caballero. Se me han ocurrido varias razones, haber que opinan.<br />

A) Wickham estaba enamorado de Lizzy o por lo menos atraído por ella y la respetaba.<br />
<br />
B )Si él hubiera sabido que Darcy estaba interesado en Lizzy. Wickham la hubiera seducido como a Lydia para dañar a Darcy. Pero desconocía ese detalle.<br />
<br />
C) Lizzy no es tan fácil de persuadir como Lydia para una fuga.<br />
<br />
D) La ultima pero no menos importante, Wikham nunca estuvo interesado en Lizzy, la trataba como a las demás mujeres, haciéndola creer que era importante para él.<br />

Es una película que si bien podrán encontrar diálogos y lugares basados en el libro, no es fiel en su totalidad a la obra, ya que hay escenas que fueron modificadas.</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
Tiene momentos que pueden resultar hasta cómicos y las actuaciones no son malas, es bastante entretenida,pero eso si cuidado si esperan encontrar aun Mr Darcy al que están acostumbradas.</div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><br />
El actor encargado de realizar a Mr Darcy es algunos momentos es un poco "suave" en su interpretación. Habrá escenas que resultara todo un hombre, mostrara su lado varonil, pero en otros sera un Mr Darcy delicado en gestos y palabras.<br />

Eso si las escenas de amor entre ambos protagonistas, no son armoniosas, en mi opinión no existe química entre ellos, como en otras interpretaciones. Una curiosidad de esta película es que Lady Catherine de Bourgh a pedido de su sobrino ha ido a ver a Elizabeth para conocer sus verdaderos sentimientos y poder transmitirlos a su sobrino, en la conversacion entre ambas se respeta el dialogo original. Solo que esta vez la tía de Mr Darcy es la que le confiesa a Lizzy que el casamiento de Lydia se lo debía a su sobrino, ya que este la había ido a buscar, por todo Londres.<br />

Hay muchas escenas y personajes de los cuales podemos realizar un analisis de sus actuaciones, pero eso sera en otra ocasion.Esta ha sido mi humilde presentación de la pelicula sin duda hay que verla, porque fue la primera versión de Hollywood de una obra de Austen y la primera obra que fue llevada a la pantalla grande.<br />

Dice Tim Bevan (La Intérprete, Realmente Amor, Johnny English). “Pensamos que era el momento indicado de traer de vuelta la historia original de Austen, concentrándonos en Lizzie, regresando con toda su gloria a la pantalla grande para que el público de todo el mundo la pudiera disfrutar.”<br />
“Orgullo y Prejuicio ha servido de modelo a tantas comedias románticas que es sorprendente que no se haya filmado en 65 años,” agrega el productor Paul Webster (Los Diarios de la Motocicleta). “Las dos versiones de la BBC son primordiales – la segunda uno de los dramas más exitosos de la BBC – pero estábamos decididos a realizar una versión para la pantalla grande, una que no contara con los estereotipos de los dramas televisivos.”<br />
“La labor anterior del director Joe Wright, incluyendo Charles II: The Power & the Passion nos habían impresionado mucho,” comenta la productora ejecutiva Debra Hayward (La intérprete, Realmente Amor). “Nos reunimos varias veces y su visión de cómo realizar la cinta y relatar la historia clásica de Austen estaba en armonía con la nuestra. Todos pensamos que no tenía sentido reinventar la trama, ya que era una favorita universal. Pero quisimos presentar la historia como fue escrita, con actores de las edades que Jane Austen indicó y dándoles una descripción que evitara la presentación de ‘caja de bombones’ característica de la televisión. Joe es un verdadero romántico pero también filmó la historia con un estilo moderno y sin convertirlo en un cuento de hadas.”<br />
“Nunca había leído Orgullo y Prejuicio, ni había visto la versión para la televisión,” dice el premiado director. “Vengo de un medio de televisión social y realista, así que supongo que estaba un poco predispuesto contra este material, considerándolo lujoso. Pero cuando leí la adaptación cinematográfica, me emocioné y al terminar tenía los ojos llenos de lágrimas. Así que leí el libro y descubrí que lo que Jane Austen había escrito era un estudio muy realista y agudo de los personajes de un grupo social en particular. La veo como una de las primeras realistas inglesas. Ella había leído la literatura gótica de moda de la época y se alejó de ella y comenzó a escribir lo que conocía y de esa forma creó un nuevo género.”<br />
“Me emocionó buscar nuevas formas de filmar este relato. Quise tratar la historia como una pieza de realismo británico en vez de la tradición pintoresca, la cual tiende a mostrar una versión idealizada de la herencia inglesa como un tipo de cielo en la tierra. Quise que Orgullo y Prejuicio fuera real y áspera – y lo más honesta posible. Los personajes de Austen son jóvenes – Lizzie tiene 20 años, Darcy 28, Lydia 15. Las emociones que ellos viven son las de jóvenes que se enamoran por primera vez. Eso me emocionó.”<br />
Durante su preparación para la película, Wright y su equipo de colaboradores encontraron algo que los ayudó a comprender mejor los personajes creados por Austen. “Inglaterra observaba la Revolución Francesa a través del canal y se preguntaba como la afectaría. Las clases altas estaban asustadas y tomaron la decisión de rozarse más con las clases bajas, de allí los bailes en los salones de las asambleas, a los cuales personas de la clase de Darcy y Bingley ahora asistían,” explica el director. “Allí, ellos se mezclarían con personas que nunca antes hubieran conocido socialmente. Era toda una nueva era para la sociedad. Para las mujeres, esto era muy emocionante. De repente, los prospectos de matrimonio se ampliaron. Bingley maneja todo esto muy bien mientras que su hermana Caroline está horrorizada por la idea de asociarse con este tipo de personas.”<br />
“Traté de ser fiel al libro, el cual tiene una estructura perfecta de tres actos, así que no cambié casi nada,” dice la guionista y novelista Deborah Moggach (las miniseries Love in a Cold Climate, Goggle Eyes y Close Relations). “Es una historia muy bella – un relato romántico sobre dos personas que piensan que se odian pero que en realidad están apasionadamente enamorados. Pensé, ‘Si no está roto, no lo arregles.’”<br />
“Las hermanas Bennet tienen que casarse o se enfrentarán a la ruina pero para un público moderno estas chicas viven muy bien,” continúa Moggach. “Es necesario que su problemática parezca importante para que los espectadores se preocupen por lo que les sucede. Parecen vivir bien – tienen una casa grande con padres cariñosos, un carruaje y sirvientes – pero si no se casan bien, terminarían sus vidas en la miseria, esquivadas por su propia clase y también por las clases más bajas.”<br />
“Hice más énfasis en la historia de Lizzie,” reflexiona Moggach. “A diferencia del libro, ella guarda sus secretos y son una gran carga. Hay cosas que ella no puede confiar a sus padres, a Charlotte, su mejor amiga, o a Jane, su querida hermana. Lizzie sufre sola. Ella ve como su padre descuida a sus hermanas y piensa que el matrimonio de sus padres es una tragicomedia. Lizzie ve como Charlotte, buscando seguridad, se casa con el odioso Sr. Collins y ve a su hermana mayor hundirse en la agonía de un amor no correspondido. También se pregunta si su oportunidad de ser feliz está desapareciendo.”<br />
En su adaptación, Moggach prestó especial atención al diálogo de Jane Austen. “No es posible reproducir totalmente el fabuloso diálogo de Austen pero hemos mantenido gran parte de él porque es como cocinar con los mejores y más finos ingredientes.”<br />
“En la novela, los personajes son todos muy corteses y esperan que la otra persona termine de hablar antes de hablar ellos,” agrega Wright. “Pero todos sabemos que, particularmente en las familias numerosas, todos hablan al mismo tiempo, terminando las frases de los otros, etc. Así que pensé que las conversaciones de la familia Bennet debían ser así.”<br />
“Una de las cosas maravillosas sobre Jane Austen es que el lienzo sobre el que ella pintaba era muy pequeño,” dice Moggach. “Esa es una de las críticas que se le hace; que ella ignoró las otras clases sociales de su época y el mundo que la rodeaba. Pero ella observaba el pequeño pedazo del mundo en que habitaba. Por ejemplo, no hay escenas en sus libros en que los hombres están solos reunidos en una habitación. O ignoraba lo que ellos decían o no le interesaba. El mundo exterior lo vemos en pequeños detalles. Por ejemplo, Caroline Bingley critica a Lady Bathurst por redecorar su salón de bailes al estilo francés. Ese es un comentario sobre lo que estaba sucediendo en Francia.”<br />
Los realizadores decidieron rodar la película totalmente en exteriores en el Reino Unido, donde la cámara tuviera el lujo de ver de afuera hacia adentro y viceversa y pudiera seguir a los personajes dentro y fuera. Se planeó una filmación de 11 semanas y Groombridge, una mansión del siglo 17, fue seleccionada para hacer las veces de Longbourn, la casa de los Bennet, en la cual el único sitio tranquilo era la biblioteca del Sr. Bennet. “Es poco común que una cinta de esta magnitud se ruede totalmente en exteriores. Parte de la idea de Joe fue tratar de crear un mundo real para los actores que les permitiera descansar en su propio medioambiente,” observa Webster. “La idea funcionó a la perfección. Los miembros del reparto, en vez de retirarse a sus camerinos entre las escenas, se dirigían a sus propias recámaras en Groombridge.”<br />
“Cuando se realizan películas de época, generalmente se usa como base las pinturas del período porque no hay fotografías,” comenta Wright. “Pero las pinturas de esa época son muy formales y la vida real no es así. También filman tomas amplias para mostrar los detalles del período en los foros. Yo pienso que el detalle lo encontramos en las cosas pequeñas, como las migajas sobre una mesa, las flores en un jarrón. La prosa de Austen me dio muchas referencias visuales para los personajes en la trama, así que usé muchos primeros planos de ellos. También evité las tomas de los carruajes. En una película ambientada en la actualidad, no es interesante ver a las personas subirse a un auto y alejarse. ¿Por qué iba a ser más interesante verlos llegar e irse en carruajes?”<br />
Elizabeth Bennet es un personaje con la cual se han identificado y adorado varias generaciones. Keira Knightley la describe como “el sueño de todas las chicas”. Aún así, Joe Wright admite, “Originalmente pensé que Keira era demasiado bella para el papel. Quería alguien que no encajara en las convenciones femeninas normales y que fuera inteligente y ligeramente difícil. Pienso que vivir con Lizzie Bennet debía ser difícil; es terca y siempre está llena de preguntas. Cuando conocí a Keira descubrí que ella siempre está haciendo preguntas y que es intrépida y atrevida. Es inteligente y tiene un gran sentido del humor. Además, es muy trabajadora.”<br />
Knightley estaba consciente del peligro inherente de interpretar una heroína tan admirada. “Al aceptar el papel sabía que tendría mucha presión,” dice ella. “Lizzie es uno de los mejores roles en la literatura femenina. Si a una actriz se le presenta la oportunidad de interpretarla, no la rechazaría. Fue un reto excitante pero a la vez aterrador.”<br />
“La auto crítica de Jane Austen de su libro es que a ella le parecía muy superficial,” continúa la actriz. “Ella sentía que la relación entre Jane y Lizzie no era lo suficientemente realista. Los realizadores tomaron nota de sus comentarios y trataron de dar a la realización un realismo que quizás no existe mucho en el libro, desarrollando la idea de que estas hermanas son dos chicas que han vivido juntas y dormido en la misma cama durante muchos años. Tienen problemas pero se aman mucho y se apoyan, disfrutando sus confidencias y compartiendo sus desgracias.”<br />
“Fue estupendo ser dirigida por Joe porque él tenía una idea muy definida de lo que quería hacer con la cinta,” agrega Knightley. “También nos permitió improvisar un poco. Y pienso que hay que hacer eso para realmente convertirnos en el personaje. Actuar en una película basada en un libro es un proceso distinto porque el diálogo interno del personaje está plasmado en su texto. Así que si tenía problemas con alguna escena, podíamos regresar a la novela. Pero al mismo tiempo, él nos permitió cambiar las cosas ligeramente cuando no tenían sentido.”<br />
Escoger al actor que interpretara al señor Fitzwilliam Darcy en la nueva película fue un gran reto para los realizadores. “No había visto las miniseries ni la cinta anterior, así que pude buscar el Darcy que tenía en mi mente – y Matthew Macfadyen fue el único para mí. Darcy tiene 28 años y Matthew tenía 29 cuando rodamos la película. No me interesaba un tipo bonito; Darcy es más interesante y complicado que eso,” asevera Wright. “Es un joven que no posee muchas habilidades sociales pero tiene una responsabilidad enorme. Sus padres han fallecido y le han dejado una gran fortuna y una hermana menor que cuidar y eso lo ha hecho madurar demasiado rápido. Matthew ha interpretado a Darcy como una persona compleja que no se siente cómodo consigo mismo y que no es fácil de amar. Nos desagrada porque lo vemos a través de los ojos de Lizzie. Y llegamos a amarlo como Lizzie lo hace.”<br />
“Matthew es un hombre muy atractivo como lo era Richard Burton, con algo de Alan Rickman,” observa Knightley. “Me sorprendió como se convirtió en Darcy. En el libro, Darcy es muy frío pero Matthew le dio vulnerabilidad a través de su masculinidad y eso lo hace muy interesante.”<br />
Macfadyen ve el personaje como “muy reprimido; es muy orgulloso y altanero. Algunos dirían que es arrogante; yo pienso que es incomprendido. ¡Y un estupendo rol! El material está muy bien escrito. Por supuesto, siempre existirán las sombras de los que lo interpretaron antes – Laurence Olivier y Colin Firth – pero eso existe en muchos papeles. Si comenzamos a preocuparnos por eso, entonces nadie interpretaría a Shakespeare. Cada actor lleva algo diferente a los roles que interpreta,” dice el actor. <br />
“La comunicación entre los sexos es probablemente tan confusa ahora como lo era en la época de Jane Austen. Además de la atracción física, a Darcy le encanta la chispa de la mente de Lizzie. La primera vez que se conocen, él le dice a Bingley que ella no es lo suficiente bonita para tentarlo a bailar. Ella lo escucha y se lo reprocha con tanto ingenio que él queda encantado inmediatamente,” agrega Macfadyen. “Él es un hombre serio con enormes responsabilidades y nunca ha conocido una joven como ella.”<br />
“Al principio, Darcy no soporta la idea que se sienta atraído hacia Lizzie,” aclara Wright, “así que son como niños en un parque – halándose los cabellos porque no saben como expresar sus sentimientos. Él necesita que ella se burle de él y tiene que aprender a no ser tan serio con ella. Ella a su vez necesita alguien con la integridad, honestidad y bondad que él posee.”<br />
Para delicia del director, Donald Sutherland aceptó interpretar al señor Bennet, el único hombre en una casa llena de mujeres. “Donald es una leyenda. Verlo hace poco junto a Nicole Kidman en Regreso a Cold Mountain, comprendí que poseía la ternura necesaria para interpretar al Sr. Bennet – y parece que se divirtió dando vida al patriarca de ese encantador grupo.”<br />
“Me encanta Jane Austen, a pesar de que leí la novela hace 40 años,” observa Sutherland. “Joe me escribió que quería que interpretara al padre de estas chicas – alguien que se casó a los 45 años. Tuvo que esperar la muerte de su padre antes de casarse y entonces tuvo 5 hijas. Vale la pena mencionar que ninguna de ellas puede heredar su fortuna porque la ley de ese entonces establecía que debía pasar al heredero masculino más cercano, en este caso un pariente lejano, el señor Collins (interpretado por Tom Hollander).<br />
Brenda Blethyn, la actriz nominada dos veces al Oscar®, interpreta el rol de la Sra. Bennet. “Es un papel difícil porque ella puede ser insoportable,” dice Wright. “Queremos que deje de hablar y gritar. Pero Brenda tiene el humor y el corazón para mostrar todo el amor y preocupación que la Sra. Bennet tiene por sus hijas.”<br />
“La señora Bennet tiene un problema muy serio y está decidida a resolverlo,” dice Blethyn. “Ella tiene cinco hijas a las que tiene que encontrarles esposos y los hombres de bien solteros no son algo común en Longbourn.”<br />
“La preocupación de la Sra. Bennet se debe a que en esa época, debido a las leyes, la fortuna de su esposo y su casa, serán heredadas por un primo lejano de su esposo cuando el Sr. Bennet muera,” aclara Blethyn. “Eso significa que ella y sus hijas lo perderán todo. La solución es que por lo menos una de sus hijas se case con un hombre lo suficientemente rico para que cuide a toda la familia. Ella está tratando de resolver ese problema de la mejor manera posible.”<br />
“Creo que cuando se casó llevó al matrimonio una pequeña dote y que se casaron por amor, lo cual no era muy común en esa era,” continúa Blethyn. “Podemos ver que se quieren. Él es tolerante y amable aunque cultiva intereses fuera del drama de su hogar – libros, plantas, zoología... Ella ocasionalmente es incomoda y hacer pasar vergüenzas a su familia pero todos los padres suelen serlo en uno u otro momento.”<br />
Para interpretar a la hermana mayor que quizás se siente más afectada por el comportamiento de su madre, Wright comenta, “Buscaba una actriz que fuera totalmente distinta a Keira; una actriz que pudiera interpretar el ideal femenino de esa época, ya que Jane es descrita como la más bella de la familia. La encontré en Rosamund Pike.”<br />
“Como la mayor de la familia,” dice Pike, “era responsabilidad de Jane educar a sus hermanas menores, así que ella tiene un ligero instinto maternal. Pero no quise interpretarla como alguien silenciosa y aburrida. La interpreté como alguien a quien le gusta reír mucho. Quisimos que la familia Bennet fuera un hogar lleno de risa y en movimiento constante.”<br />
El único miembro estadounidense del reparto es Jena Malone, cuyas simpáticas actuaciones de jóvenes chicas convencieron a los realizadores que era ideal para interpretar a Lydia Bennet. Malone sintió que ella entendía bien a la adolescente y dice, “El mundo de Lydia está lleno de cintas, lazos y soldados. Únicamente tiene 15 años y está enamorada de la idea de estar enamorada. Pasa todo su tiempo pensando en los vestidos que se pondrá para conocer chicos. No está en contacto con muchos hombres, sólo aquellos de una clase social aceptable. Por eso le encanta la idea de ir a los bailes; es el único lugar donde puede bailar con una gran variedad de chicos. Debido a que ella es la menor de las hermanas Bennet, tiene más libertad que las otras.”<br />
Interpretan al resto de las hermanas Bennet, las actrices debutantes Carey Mulligan y Talulah Riley, como Kitty y Mary Bennet, respectivamente. “Esta es su primera cinta y las dos son grandes admiradoras de Jane Austen,” dice el director. “Estaban tan emocionadas con todo el proceso que eso creó una atmósfera especial para las escenas en que aparece toda la familia.”<br />
Otra admiradora de Jane Austen que convierte su sueño de participar en la película en realidad es Tamzin Merchant, quien debuta en cine como Georgiana, la hermana de Darcy.<br />
El rol de la dominante Lady Catherine de Bourg necesitaba alguien con considerable experiencia histriónica y los realizadores tuvieron la buena fortuna de obtener la participación de Judi Dench. “En nuestro primer día de rodaje, filmamos una escena durante una cena,” recuerda Wright. “Cualquier director les dirá que son escenas muy difíciles. Y con Judi Dench sentada a la cabeza de la mesa, estaba muy nervioso pero ella es toda una profesional y una persona muy agradable. Fue una delicia verla transformarse en una mujer tan difícil.”<br />
“Ella es insoportable,” dice Dench de su personaje. “Es autocrática, sospecha de todos y está llena de malas mañas. Ella quiere que Darcy se case con su propia hija. Conozco el libro muy bien. Fue escrito cuando Jane Austen era muy joven. Entonces, lo guardó en una gaveta y lo dejó allí por años... Es una obra maestra y una gran historia de amor. Me encantó que me ofrecieran el papel y tenía mucho interés en trabajar con Joe. Él tiene 33 años y es muy agradable cuando alguien tan joven le pide a alguna de mi edad que interprete un papel. Me parece que tiene mucha integridad.”<br />
Detrás de las escenas – literalmente – Wright trabajó con su frecuente colaboradora, la diseñadora de la producción Sarah Greenwood (la miniserie Charles II: The Power & the Passion). “Sarah y yo nos conocemos y nos acoplamos profesionalmente a la perfección,” dice el director. “Siempre trato de trabajar con ella lo más temprano posible y juntos trabajamos para inyectarle realismo a los foros de Orgullo y Prejuicio.”<br />
Otra decisión temprana para el director fue el vestuario junto con la diseñadora del vestuario Jacqueline Durran (El Secreto de Vera Drake, Otro Día Para Morir). “Los vestidos de la línea imperial me parecen feos, así que investigamos un poco. A pesar de que el libro se publicó en 1813, Jane Austen escribió su primer borrador de Orgullo y Prejuicio, entonces llamado Primeras Impresiones alrededor de 1797. Así que usamos la moda de ese período anterior, donde la cintura de los vestidos estaba más abajo y el vestuario era más atractivo. Cuando Caroline Bingley aparece, ella obviamente se vestiría con lo último de la moda. Pero los vestidos de la Sra. Bennet son del período antes de 1797 y los de Lady Catherine aún más porque ambas tendrían sus mejores vestidos de años anteriores cuando eran más jóvenes. El uso de Jacqueline de la tela y el color para esta cinta me parece exquisito.”</span><br />

</span></div><div style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><b><i><span style="font-size: small;">Había tan pocos caballeros que Elizabeth Bennet se había visto obligada a sentarse durante dos bailes; en ese tiempo Darcy estuvo lo bastante cerca de ella para que la muchacha pudiese oír una conversación entre él y el señor Bingley, que dejó el baile unos minutos para convencer a su amigo de que se uniese a ellos.<br />
–Ven, Darcy –le dijo–, tienes que bailar. No soporto verte ahí de pie, solo y con esa estúpida actitud. Es mejor que bailes.<br />
–No pienso hacerlo. Sabes cómo lo detesto, a no ser que conozca personalmente a mi pareja. En una fiesta como ésta me sería imposible. Tus hermanas están comprometidas, y bailar con cualquier otra mujer de las que hay en este salón sería como un castigo para mí.<br />

Hay descripciones y situaciones que me hacen sospechar que Mr Darcy no era solo una persona de ficción, la forma en que escribe y como define lo que siente Lizzy al verlo, hace que tenga dudas.<br />
Hace poco leí un libro que recomendaban, que se llama "El hombre que amo a Jane Austen" y me hizo entender que mi idea de pensar que Mr Darcy fuera real no era tan descabellada, porque si no hubieran hecho un libro insinuando eso ¿no?</m:defjc></m:rmargin></m:lmargin></m:dispdef></m:smallfrac><br />

Es este dialogo uno de mis preferidos, no solo porque es un cruce de palabras ingenioso, sino porque Darcy y Lizzy mencionan los defectos del otro, que luego se irán intensificando, al transcurrir la historia. <br />
Elizabeth hace mención del orgullo de Darcy y el caballero del prejuicio de la joven, es por eso que creo que es una de las escenas que nos revela el defecto de cada uno. Aunque en mi opinión ambos poseen orgullo y prejuicio, pero de diferente manera.</i></b><br />

– ¡Que no podemos reírnos del señor Darcy! – Exclamó Elizabeth–. Es un privilegio muy extraño, y espero que siga siendo extraño, no me gustaría tener muchos conocidos así. Me encanta reírme.<br />
– La señorita Bingley –respondió Darcy–me ha dado más importancia de la que merezco. El más sabio y mejor de los hombres o la más sabia y mejor de las acciones, pueden ser ridículos a los ojos de una persona que no piensa en esta vida más que en reírse.<br />
– Estoy de acuerdo –respondió Elizabeth–hay gente así, pero creo que yo no estoy entre ellos. Espero que nunca llegue a ridiculizar lo que es bueno o sabio. Las insensateces, las tonterías, los caprichos y las inconsecuencias son las cosas que verdaderamente me divierten, lo confieso, y me río de ellas siempre que puedo. Pero supongo que éstas son las cosas de las que usted carece.<br />
– Quizá no sea posible para nadie, pero yo he pasado la vida esforzándome para evitar estas debilidades que exponen al ridículo a cualquier persona inteligente.<br />

Nos muestra la posición del hombre y la mujer, ante el dilema de elegir adecuadamente su futuro compañero/a y las ventajas o desventajas, que seria para ellos dicha unión matrimonial.<o:p></o:p></span></i></span></b></div><div class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size: small;"><i><span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif"; line-height: 115%;">También se puede apreciar de este libro la ironía y el humor característico de las obras de Jane, que su protagonista femenina, utiliza casi exclusivamente, ya que hay varios personajes que también usan ese medio para dar su opinión de descontento ante ciertas situaciones que se presentan.<o:p></o:p></span></i></span></b></div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: small;"><i><span style="font-family: "Georgia","serif"; line-height: 115%;"><b>Con este libro podemos tener una idea de cómo veía Jane la sociedad de su época y sus normas morales, las formas de comportamiento y los temas a veces triviales que se solían mencionar, por educación más que por gusto o interés.</b></span></i></span><br />
